The applications for the 2024/2025 Beit Trust Postgraduate Scholarships for African students will be accepted starting from September 2023. African students are encouraged to seek a fully funded postgraduate scholarship opportunity to study in the United Kingdom or South Africa, with the generous support of the Beit Trust.
The Beit Trust represents a cooperative effort involving eight UK universities and three South African universities, aimed at sponsoring individuals with a strong drive to pursue a degree program. This collaborative partnership among universities enables the sharing of costs, thereby expanding the number of scholarships that can be made available through the Beit Trust.

Beit Trust Postgraduate Scholarship 2024 | Eligibility Requirements
In accordance with an Act of Parliament, the Beit Trust exclusively provides support to students who are citizens of Zambia, Zimbabwe, or Malawi. These students must hold permanent residence in one of these countries, currently reside there, or have intentions of returning to their home country after completing their studies.
For applicants, excluding medical and veterinary doctors, the age limit is set at under 30 years as of December 31, 2023. It is highly recommended that applicants have relevant work experience after earning their first degree, as this will be taken into account during the scholarship selection process.
Doctors and veterinarians applying for the scholarship must be under 35 years of age as of December 31, 2023. They should have completed 18 months of internship and have undertaken a one-year, preferably rural, posting in Zambia, Zimbabwe, or Malawi.
Please note that the Beit Trust cannot entertain applications from individuals who have already commenced a course of study. Additionally, the Trust will exclusively consider applicants who have achieved either First Class/Distinction or Upper Second Class degrees (or their equivalent) at the undergraduate level.
Scholarship Benefits
The Beit Trust Postgraduate Scholarship for 2024/25 covers the following:
- Fees, including tuition costs and related academic expenses.
- A personal allowance, adjusted in accordance with an independent authority, to provide financial support for daily living expenses.
- Additional allowances for arrival, a laptop, and departure.
- Economy class airfare to the place of study and upon completion of the course.
Application Procedure
How to Apply: To apply for the Beit Trust Postgraduate Scholarship for 2024/25, prospective candidates should follow these steps:
- Apply for admission to a postgraduate program at any of the partner universities in the UK or South Africa.
- Inform the partner university that you intend to seek scholarship funding from the Beit Trust, and make sure to highlight any relevant work experience.
- Notify the Trust once you have submitted your application to the partner university and specify the course you are applying for.
- Confirm your nationality to the Trust. Zambian applicants should send their application form for confirmation to scholarships@beittrust.org.uk, while applicants from Zimbabwe and Malawi should send theirs to africa@beittrust.org.uk.
- Complete the online scholarship application, including all required supporting documents, before the application deadline.

- A copy of your offer letter from a UK Partner University(s), or a PDF document detailing the university(s) and course(s) you intend to apply to at South African Partner University(s).
- Degree results.
- Curriculum Vitae.
- A personal statement (not exceeding 500 words) explaining how you believe a postgraduate degree will contribute to the development of your country.
- A recent, clear photograph of yourself (not a passport photo, but one that presents you in the best possible light).
- A clear copy of your valid passport, displaying the date of issue and expiry.
